Fascinated by illustrations ever since he was a child, Jean-Michel Tixier taught himself to draw. He illustrated covers of records made by his friends for the Record Makers label before going on to attract the attention of major brands and the press. His irreverent universe was inspired by the French, Belgian and Dutch characters. Jean-Michel Tixier unhesitatingly adopted their “clear line” style of drawing, one defined by his precise lines, his strong colors and his wide cast of characters. His work has already won favor with the prestigious New York Times, Vanity Fair, Hermès, Kenzo... Jean-Michel Tixier has collaborated with M, the weekly magazine of Le Monde. Each week, the newspaper gives him carte blanche in their “Ligne de Mire” (Firing Line) section, where he reacts to cultural news and trends. Jean-Michel Tixier offers readers a charmingly off-kilter yet ironically accurate vision of the world by placing his characters in comical and absurd situations.
